What is a Shrine?

SHRINE MODEL AND CONSTRUCTION

The village has a sense of intercommunication as their houses do not have specific boundaries. Most of their houses are connected with each other and anyone can trespass, peep, eavesdrop into each other's houses. There's a sense of community, togetherness, crowd and transparency but sometimes one wishes to feel a sense of detachment, be distant from this crowd and chaos all around and try to look for a place which will inculcate intimacy, closeness within themselves as well as with others. It establishes the communication by oneself by sitting there alone. This structure exactly fulfills the purpose because of its underground feature. People can even gaze at the stars at night and feel the coolness caused by the sea and the sand. The structure basically lets the villagers get a break from the open space, humidity and constant wind blowing which carries the sand coming into their houses in the village. The narrow space surrounding the underground structure lets one to re-establish their relationship with the sea by just walking around it and hearing the waves. People can gather there in groups yet can be distant from each other. One can feel detached or distant and intimate at the same time here.
