Meaning & Form: Objects, Movements, and Sound

This studio was a vertical studio the course which I chose was 'Meaning & Form: Objects, Movements and Sound' conducted by Kausik Mukhopadhyay.

The studio was 4 weeks long.

The first week we listened to various sounds by john cage, music, orchestra, etc. We even got inspired by watching movies too. We simultaneously also collected short sounds we found interesting in day-to-day life on the street, marketplace, stations, etc.

In the second week, we mixed, overlapped, and combined our collected sounds using adobe audition. I was interested in sounds made by different metals like keys, cans, etc.

In the third and fourth weeks, we made a machine-producing sound.

I collected junk from the banghaar shop which I thought could make interesting sounds, and tried and tested simple mechanisms from which I can produce metal sounds. Even made sketches to understand the mechanisms better.
